Working with Pantones

I've learned that pantone colors are important when designing and it can help to know these color codes especially when you need specific colors from a printer. When designing and using pantone colors the best file format to use for a printer would be a pdf because it makes sure all the color configurations and specifications are preserved. I think I was successful in designing with pantones and I would definitely want to work with pantones again and use more exaggerated colors.  

Color and Application

My focus in the design of the the cut out was a flower shape and the message of the card was to wish someone a happy birthday. I think I could of also used yellow in the card to show happiness but I think the blue in the card works cause it represents wisdom. Color definitely added to the design and complemented the image. Honestly I struggled the most with figuring out how to clip the image but overall the rest of the process wasn't bad. I think the cut-out was successful. 

Logo Touch Up

 In order to make a low resolution logo into a high resolution logo first I had to open the image in photoshop and scale up the resolution by tricking the image. Then I had to adjust the noise and make the image black and white. lastly I took the image to adobe illustrator and then image traced, expanded the image and then recreated the logo from that.  

Composition and Photography

After going through the presentation on composition and photography I learned that they are very important when it comes to digitally manipulating images. The composition of an image is made of several aspects including symmetry, leading lines, frames, foreground interest, and depth. I would rather take my own pictures than use existing images that I may have to pay for because I just like taking photos.

   

Elements and Principles of Design

 The Gestalt principles of design are important in order to understand the basics of what make up a design. The Gestalt principles are the foundation to making a good design. I use the Gestalt principles of design on my designs to make them more intentional and overall better. With all my work I make sure every Gestalt principle is being used. 

Workflow

Desktop publishing is an important aspect in visual communications. Desktop publishing is essentially being a graphic designer and writer. A few key differences in desktop publishing are that you have to follow someone else's creative freedom and edit everything exactly as instructed as well as making sure there's not mistakes. Having a proper workflow is also important when working in a field that involves saving files and packaging them as well. My workflow right now is that I'm making sure to save all my working documents and important folders into my OneDrive because the computers delete everything in the desktop once turned off. 

College update 2/12/2025

 Since the last time I've uploaded on blogger I've taken art history, digital prepress, and adobe illustrator courses. I think I've gotten way more comfortable with using different adobe software. This year my goals with this class blog other than project critiques is to work on my writing skills and hopefully improve overall.
